DP-421, New Mexico Tech – Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center proposes to renew the Discharge Permit for the discharge of up to 700 gallons per day of industrial wastewater to a disposal system and up to 2800 gallons per day of domestic wastewater to treatment and disposal systems. Potential contaminants from this type of discharge include nitrogen compounds, organic compounds, inorganic compounds, total dissolved solids, metals, and chloride. The facility is located at 1001 South Road, approximately 3 miles west of Socorro, in Section 33, Township 02 South, Range 01 West, Section 36, Township 02 South, Range 02 West, Sections 8 and 9, Township 03 South, Range 01 West, and Sections 1, 2, and 6, Township 03 South, Range 02 West, Socorro County. Groundwater most likely to be affected is at a depth of approximately 60 to 217 feet and had a pre-discharge total dissolved solids concentration of 1,450 milligrams per liter.
