DP-1992, Gage Resta Area Nitrate Removal System, New Mexico Department of Transportation proposes a new Discharge Permit for the discharge of up to 300 gallons per day of reverse osmosis reject wastewater to a treatment and disposal system. Potential contaminants from this type of discharge include nitrogen compounds. The facility is located off of Interstate 10 westbound at milepost 60.8, approximately 20 miles west of Deming, in Sections 7 and 18, Township 24 South, Range 12 West, Luna County. Groundwater most likely to be affected is at a depth of approximately 98 feet and had a pre-discharge total dissolved solids concentration of 618 milligrams per liter.
