Please Note: There are two WIPP Permit Modification actions taking place around the same time. This item is for the WIPP Class 2 Permit Modification Request (PMR) which seeks changes to the WIPP Permit to Revise Frequencies and Reporting Requirements. This comment period is open for 60 days, from April 22, 2026, through June 22, 2026.


On April 17, 2026, the WIPP Permittees submitted a Class 2 Permit Modification Request (PMR) to NMED that requires a public comment period of 60 days. This comment period opens April 22, 2026 and closes on June 22, 2026. Any person who wishes to comment on the Class 2 PMR should submit a written comment through NMED’s Public Comment Portal, or by email, or by postal mail, as detailed in the Class 2 PMR Public Notice. Please include the commenter’s name, postal and email address. Comments received before 5 pm on June 22, 2026 will be considered.
 
Written comments should include, to the extent practicable, all referenced factual materials. Documents in the Administrative Record need not be re-submitted if expressly referenced by the commenter.
